As in the past years, the sponsorship program allows sponsored children from the towns of Coc Pa, Ta Nhiu and Nam Dan to undergo medical check-ups without having to face the long journey to the nearest hospital. The news for this year is that this opportunity has been also given to the siblings of the sponsored children, resulting in 116 check-ups. The children are aged between five and sixteen, they got blood tested and had a full dental check-up, as well as a general health check-up. Those who have been diagnosed with more seriuos issues that need specific treatments will once again be helped by GTV in their recovery journey.
Furthermore, in August the second part of the rice due to the families of the children who are part of the sponsorship program was distributed. This is important as many families live on subsistence farming, and when the harvest is poor they have no way of guaranteeing their children nutritious meals. In fact, as a little girl writes in her letter, "We usually eat boiled and fried vegetables for dinner." She then adds, addressing her sponsor: "I feel so happy and grateful towards you, because you allow me to help my mum take care of my younger siblings."
