The Long Distance Child Adoption (SAD) program continues to guarantee dozens of families a more serene situation, especially as regards the growth and health of children, thanks to the annual medical check-up and the distribution of bags of rice.

On October 1, the children supported by SAD, accompanied by their parents or family members, went to the centers closest to them in the villages of Coc Pai, Ta Nhiu and Nam Dan, where they were able to receive a complete medical check-up with the otolaryngologist, a dental check-up and dental hygiene and an abdominal ultrasound. From 7.30 to 16.30, 100 children were examined by the district medical personnel who were specially there in the villages for them that day. This aid is important because hospitals are far from the places where children and their families live, making them difficult and expensive to reach. Requiring a full day to travel, going to the hospital for a child visit puts an additional burden on the family economy, since the accompanying parent thus loses a day of work. On the other hand, ensuring an annual medical check-up, accessible in the nearest village, however, guarantees the health and safety of children without worries for the parents.

Given and considering these difficulties, therefore, we wanted to take advantage of the same day to deliver rice to the families as well. Each child supported by the program, and his family, received a 60 kg bag of rice, the second of 2022. In fact, rice is delivered twice a year for a total of 120 kg per family. and for some families it is a regular event. This donation is important because cultivation in the mountains is not easy, also due to periods of drought that make irrigation difficult. Families live mainly on subsistence farming, so a failed harvest has a big impact on their ability to support themselves.

Thanks to SAD, it is possible to alleviate the difficulties and worries of parents and promote a more balanced diet for children.
