Friendship and Peace at Summer Camps 2022!
Dec 13 2022No, it is not the title of a new novel, but the theme chosen for the 2022 summer camps.
What is more beautiful and urgent these days, in fact, than talking about and really living Friendship and Peace?
The summer tradition continues, and again this year we are happy to have managed to set up the summer camps for the children that we support through the distance support program (SAD) in the district of Xin Man.
On the days from 14 to 16 July, 100 boys and girls met in the municipalities of Coc Pai, Ta Nhiu and Nam Dan to have fun together and be creative, linked by the common theme of friendship and of peace. Followed by a group of 12 volunteers from Hanoi and belonging to the non-profit organization Green Finger Vietnam, they lived a constructive experience of sharing and exchange. Team games have involved even the most timid ones and entertained everybody. The proposed activities facilitated mutual knowledge of dreams, study aspirations and thoughts about the proposed themes.
As usual, during the days marked by the rhythm of games, jobs, fun and reflections on the themes of friendship and peace, the children also found the space to make drawings and / or write letters. A moment full of emotions since many of them received a letter translated into Vietnamese from the Italian supporting families to which they were able to respond to. The Summer Camp is in fact one of the few opportunities we have to deliver the messages of supporters to children in Vietnam. Here in the office we are waiting for the material produced in these days by the children, which as soon as possible, we will translate and send to their respective supporting families.
At the end of the day, after the tug-of-war, comes the well-deserved moment for a snack. Subsequently, there was also the delivery of school materials, but far beyond the material aspect, for these children - in many cases orphans of a parent, in all cases from particularly disadvantaged backgrounds - it is worth immensely. Plus they have the opportunity to experience the light-heartedness and playfulness of childhood, which are often put aside in their lives. This was well understood by the volunteers who were very good in giving affection and joy and in knowing how to include and make everyone participate.
The joy of being able to make children live these moments, the satisfaction of seeing so many smiles, are the result of the opportunity given to us by the support of so many supporting families, to whom our thanks always go.
