Medical check-ups completed for 171 children thanks to the ISABEL project: distribution of specific medical devices begins

Dec 10 2025

The ISABEL project continues, aiming to promote cognitive, physical, and social development and improve the daily well-being of children with special educational needs.
The initiative supports around one hundred children and their families living in four communes of the Xin Man District (Ban Diu, Na Chi, Quang Nguyen, and Trung Thinh) in Vietnam.

After completing the initial assessments, analyzing the specific needs of each family, and creating a database of the children’s individual requirements, the first educational materials were distributed in October, including 8 desks, 8 lamps, and 9 tablets, to the families selected for support.

In November, the cycle of specialized medical check-ups was completed, carried out in collaboration with local healthcare facilities and experts from the Thuy An Center in Hanoi, a leading institution in Vietnam for the education of children with special educational needs.
During these dedicated days, 171 children from the four communes, identified by teachers and village representatives as cases of disability, received comprehensive evaluations. Among them, 83 children either do not have an official disability certificate or have incomplete or non-compliant documentation, which is essential to access the necessary support.
GTV will send their profiles to the Ha Giang provincial hospital, which will initiate the process for issuing the official certification, indispensable for accessing state financial contributions.
Meanwhile, 69 children were found eligible for admission to the Thuy An Center.

Following these check-ups, the second phase of material distribution will begin, focusing on specific medical devices for different types of disability, such as glasses, hearing aids, and wheelchairs. The selection of these devices is based on the results of the medical assessments and is done in consultation with teachers and families, ensuring that each child receives what truly meets their needs.

Once this final distribution is completed, the project will move towards its conclusion with the last planned activity: final events in the four target communes. All children with disabilities from these communes and the teachers involved will be invited.
Invitations will also be extended to the local community and authorities, with the goal of sharing the project’s results and raising awareness about inclusion.
