As part of the MAMI project, medical checkups and screenings for child malnutrition were conducted during last months in the target municipalities.

To ensure greater safety and health, it is essential not only that teachers and parents be adequately trained in nutrition education, but also that every child can count on favorable health conditions.

For this very reason, from March 23 to 26, local doctors conducted an initial series of height and weight measurements, with the aim of establishing a baseline for the level of child malnutrition.
Each school had a doctor on site who participated in both data collection and the assessment of the students’ health status.
In total, four medical checkups were conducted at the various school locations. The professionals involved came from the health centers of Pa Vay Su and Nam Dan (Che La) communes, with two doctors from each center.
Participation by every child was very positive and consistent: a total of 615 children underwent health screenings, including height and weight measurements. All data collected was carefully recorded to enable monitoring over time. These measurements are taken three times a year, and this first cycle marks the start of the scheduled screenings.

Overall, considering both the children already examined and those who will be examined during the catch-up phase, the total number of children found to be malnourished is 291. This will provide a more accurate and comprehensive picture of the nutritional status of children in the municipalities.
