Project completed in response to Typhoon Yagi: 41 homes and one school rebuilt and secured

Dic 10 2025

The project in response to the climate emergency and Typhoon Yagi that occurred in the Xin Man District was completed at the end of October. The project fully achieved its goals: the reconstruction of homes for 40 families and the securing of Nam Dan primary school.
During the project, support was extended to a 41st family, and essential facilities such as bathrooms and kitchens were completed, significantly improving living conditions. The intervention not only met the initial goals but also enhanced the overall quality of life and safety for the communities involved.

Most of the houses were completely rebuilt and relocated to safer areas, sometimes incorporating materials recovered from the previous homes. The entire process was carried out through collaboration between GTV, local authorities, the supplier company, and the beneficiary families, ensuring rapid and tangible support for restoring dignified and safe living conditions. Between March and June 2025, the first distribution of materials took place, including bricks and cement essential for constructing the new homes. In September 2025, a second distribution provided additional cement to complete the houses and build kitchens and sanitary facilities.

Throughout the project, GTV staff and volunteers conducted monitoring missions to track the progress of the work, collect photographic material, and document results. These missions allowed the team to record the initial conditions of the houses and update the post-intervention status.
The final mission, carried out in October 2025, confirmed the completion of all 41 beneficiary homes, ensuring full and accurate documentation of the intervention.

Direct beneficiaries, including teachers, students at the Nam Dan kindergarten, and the 41 families, expressed full satisfaction with the quality and effectiveness of the interventions, appreciating the school’s safety improvements and the opportunity to return to secure homes. Local authorities also acknowledged the project’s effectiveness and timeliness, praising the coordination between GTV, the community, and suppliers. The project further consolidated GTV’s presence in Xin Man, strengthened relationships with local entities and communities, and enhanced the network of Vietnamese volunteers.
