In February 2026, the ISABEL project – School Inclusion and Support for Children with Special Educational Needs – was successfully completed. The project aimed to improve the inclusion and well-being of children with disabilities in schools and families in the Xin Man District.

In the final months of 2025, the distribution of medical support to children was completed. Overall, 186 children with disabilities were supported, a significantly higher number than the 100 initially planned. This result was made possible thanks to the close collaboration between GTV staff in Vietnam, schools, volunteers, and local authorities. Among the various items distributed were 13 wheelchairs, 2 custom-made hearing aids, 6 pairs of glasses, and 54 kits of educational materials.

Between December 24 and 27, 2026, four final project events were held, one in each target municipality. During these final days, students performed plays, with the participation of local authorities, followed by a joint moment of reflection and feedback on the objectives achieved by the project and on the future sustainability of the actions implemented. Additional educational and hygiene materials were also distributed to the families of children with special educational needs. Across the four final events, a total of 310 people participated, including teachers, local authorities, and children.

In December 2026, a GTV intern, supported by local staff, was also responsible for drafting and administering questionnaires to local authorities and teachers who took part in the project. The results show a high level of satisfaction with the program and highlight the importance of these interventions in enabling the inclusion of children with special educational needs in schools in Xin Man.

The ISABEL project therefore concluded successfully, achieving and exceeding the predetermined objectives and targets.
