Makili is a village located on Atauro Island, in East Timor, where due to climate change, access to water has drastically decreased since 2020: in fact the two main water sources in the village have mostly dried up, due to
long periods of drought followed by catastrophic rains, which make the natural absorption of water difficult.
To meet the need for water, the Response to the water emergency project in Makili was undertaken, which involves the participation of the local population in the construction of tanks for fifty families, which were identified last month with the help of village leaders and the project manager. Now, the inhabitants coordinated by the construction site foreman have started the construction of the warehouse for the materials necessary for the construction of the cisterns, which will be purchased soon.
