Healthy Eating Days in Xin ManJan 25 2022
The project FIABA is continuing in Xin Man, with the aim of training teachers and parents on hygiene and nutrition and improving the conditions of the five targeted kindergartens .
Following the reopening of the schools in November 2021, it was possible to organize the "days of healthy nutrition", that took place from 15 to16 January 2022. These event has represented a moment of meeting through parents, teachers and the rest of the local population, an opportunity to learn the basics of healthy nutrition for both adults and children.
These events took place in five different schools and included the competition between different teams (composed of the pupils’ parents) that challenged themselves in the preparation of nutritious, varied and balanced dishes. Indeed, all the teams had to realize several preparations, intended for specific targets such as infants, children, pregnant women.
A jury composed of representatives of the local health authorities judged their work, considering both the nutritional and the aesthetic aspects of the dishes presented.
These events represented also a good opportunity to focus on the basic hygiene rules over food preparation, a topic that FIABA project want to spread between parents and also between the kindergartens pupils, who will be targeted by specific activities on this in the coming months.
Despite the organizational efforts, complicated by the health emergency situation, the attendance during the five events was good: in total more than 457 people participated including 88 teachers, 36 cooks, 168 parents, 150 children and 15 local authorities.
The parents’ feedback was very positive, as reported by some of the mothers that stated to have really appreciated the opportunity to increase their knowledge of nutritional best practices.
Ly Thi Ha, one of Che La's kindergarten teacher, also underlined the importance of reaching as many people as possible in these sort of campaigns. She hopes there will be more opportunities like this in the future!
